As a writer/photographer who specializes in travel, film, food, and the performing arts (such as dance, theatre, opera, street performance, etc), and the cultural particulars of place, I tend to travel a great deal in search of stories. My destinations are not always exotic, but they are all engaging, interesting, and a limitless source of stories worth sharing.

Here's a list of where I've been and what I've done recently (in the past 12 months):

- All About Mardi Gras Enters Its Third Year - I'm happy to announce that 2012 marks the third year that I've written, edited and published All About Mardi Gras, a website dedicated to covering Mardi Gras and year-round travel in eight U.S. communities with vibrant, longstanding Mardi Gras traditions.

I'm also quite pleased to say that in 2011 All About Mardi Gras was used by over 4,400 interested Mardi Gras fans (unique visitors) from 70 countries. In the grand scheme of web traffic, this is a small number of people, but all of them wanted to know more about Mardi Gras and found my site. More importantly, the site had slow but steady traffic all year round, and the site traffic tripled in 2011. (posted Jan. 2, 2011)

Talking TV Drama: Breaking Bad in Galway - I attended a two-day conference (October 20 & 21, 2011)on writing television. The conference was put on by the Galway Film Centre. Attendees of note inlcuded: Vince Gilligan, Lisa McGee, Len Collins, Laura MacKenzie, Declan Croghan, Muirinn Lane Kelly, Ciarán Kissne, and Fiona Seres.

An American in Dublin - On 4-26-11 I began blogging about the modern immigrant experience.
